04:04 woken by rain, I had been waiting for the rain, not that I wanted it, I just knew it would come sooner or later, fortunately we hadn’t had one drop so far! I packed my kit every night and day as if it was going to get wet, its good skills in Borneo as the weather can change in a flash (already learnt from staying in Sepilok with the extreme instant weather change and thunder)
Thought I would update this while I was awake…
Up at 06:00 and no rain to be seen! Once again I had dodged the rain and the weather gods where on ourside, in some ways I wanted it to pi*s down everywhere, then perhaps people would sort their kit and hammock skills out, the majority left stuff exposed to rain and on the floor for every ground based creature to jump onto (ant attack) “bad skillz”
Example kit explosion
Breakfast consisted of Scottish gunk (porridge) and boarhead, an interestingly different combination, however I stuck with my usual fibre powder, hydration powder and Boots energy tablet mixed into a very orangey drink!

It was another day of trekking and we set off towards camp4 @ 08:50.
The terrain mainly consisted of uphill, uphill more, down a little and then uphill. The route today was short (3 hours) but the steep hill we had to climb made it a killer, I actually thought it wasn’t going to end! Unfortunately some of the group members made it seem a lot longer and I was constantly doing the stop/start shuffle due to the slow movers at the front…

In the end you’re not really bothered about the views around you just want to get there. We reached the camp at 12:00 and got on with setting up.

No GPS Signal Again!
Later in the day we had lessons by the legendry “fozzy” on making fire and snare traps, he made them seem so simple, but we all know it’s not just “that easy”

Once again “Willy” (porter) had been off hunting (with rifle) and brings over his latest catch… a deer.
Bambi wouldnt be coming home for tea!
Usually only one animal is killed per trek (for low impact) but I guess they were lucky with their catch so far! Later on the guides bought some cooked deer over for anyone to try. It was ok, but not anything special, however tasted better due to the story behind it.
At 19:00 we had our evening meal 19:00 consisting of pasta, tomato pure, soya, mushrooms and kidney beans, not the best cocktail, but it did the job.

I passed on the radioactive custard!
After socialising with the guys for a while after I headed off to bed to listen to some tunes (and drown out the ranting Bermudian girls talking about their love life) and update this.
