After an awesome night’s sleep I was awake and up at 05:30, I made the most of the time by getting the fire going and puree tabbing the water ready for 06:00 when everyone was up.
We all did breakfast (dodging a large portion of Scottish gruel) and headed off at 08:20 (late again)

The days trek was hardcore, a mixture of time (7hours) weight, stopping/starting and the hills! (Cliff like) “fozzy” our guide said it was going to be easier than the day before, but the locals have a different level of “easy” easily judged by the tree trunk calf muscles that power them around the jungle like tanks.

3 hours in and gunfire was heard followed by a short *hurrrr* noise… the leading porters up front had bagged themselves a baby boar…
We shortly followed them up to see the dead creature laying on a bed of leaves, unfortunately probably the only mammal to be seen in the jungle by us and it was dead!

Having said that it didn’t stop us sit and watch while the guides precisely carved it up meanwhile cooking it’s heart, liver and fat for us to sample.
A little put off by the body parts cooked, I still gave them a go and they weren’t too bad.

After an hour’s break while the boar was dealt with we carried on to the camp, finally reaching it at 16:00 after a river crossing, only ankle height, but annoying all the same as it took time while everyone worked their way down the slippery bank and changed their boots in exchange for Teva’s (I hate getting wet boots!! nothing dries here!).

Once again the camp area needed everything setting up but the guides helped and made light work of it! Evening meal was some wild boar and alfredo pasta, the weirdest combination possible, unfortunately we had two veggie’s in the group, a Muslim (no pork) and a none red meat eater so no easy meal plan.

Finishing the day off, I got into my hammock after all the personal chores and “CRACK” I slammed onto the deck and wonder WTF, my hammock rope had snapped, the least likely thing to break, but I managed it.
Luckily the guides had a spare and with the five people all gathered round it was back up no time.
The day has been so long!! With a sore head I just wanted to sleep!!!
