It was a 6am get up time, but like all timings edwards or otherwise they slipped, I rolled out my hammock at 06:20 to pack up and be ready to leave at 08:00, this also when astray and ended up being 08:40. The 05:00am cold had kicked in during the morning and I was required to make use of the softie, it worked pretty well, however the body temperature had dropped so much it took another hour to warm-up.

Porridge for breakfast, my least favorite meal on the whole Raleigh expedition. We were in for a 4/5 trek and 5 hours it was, there were some killer hills and I had opted to take the tarp which didn’t help the weight of my pack. There was some super slow moments due to some of the members in the group (also known as Fatties or Rainbow crew, perhaps not PC, but used discretely) holding things up.
The trek would have easily been 1 hour shorter without the breaks and the stopping killed my momentum and my frustration level was on maximum when we kept bunching up and having to stop on steep paths whilst carrying the weight.
The Terrain went from logging tracks and open landscape to woodland and jungle territory. The weather was hot when exposed in the sun but cooled off in the canopy.

We got to the camp site at 13:00 this was a new area that needed all the facilities to be built. Everyone cracked on with the jobs quite efficiently and we had it done on no time! I took some photos of the area and made the most of some hammock time. I’ve been really antisocial so far, but really like to have the quiet time after listen to 10v’s sing and talk sh*t whilst trekking all day so far.

Evening meal was packet macaroni cheese and it was pretty good. We ate at 19:30 had a group review and once again I took some time sorting my hammock and kit out before getting into bed. Tonight I was not going to get cold, I had forgotten the long sleeve base layer top was in my bag and as I lay their sweating with it on, I was sure at 05:00 it would do wonders. The other PMs (x3) were all still up talking whilst everyone else was in bed, maybe I was out the loop and not making the effort (and I know they commented on it), but to be honest I care factor was at “0″), my tiredness levels had been getting the better of me and some zzzzZzzz were what I really needed.
